Wigan Athletic entered administration on 1 July 2020, a month after Next Leader Fund took control, and the EFL's 12-point deduction applied at the end of 2019-20 relegated them from the Championship. An independent arbitration panel upheld the sanction on 4 August 2020.

Owner at the time: Next Leader Fund

Outcome: Survived. Deduction applied after the final 2019-20 game, dropping Wigan from 13th to 23rd and relegating them; appeal dismissed 4 August 2020. Begbies Traynor sold the club to Phoenix 2021 Ltd in March 2021.
