Southampton's parent company, Southampton Leisure Holdings plc, went into administration on 2 April 2009 during the 2008-09 Championship season. The Football League imposed a 10-point penalty on 23 April 2009 which, because the club was relegated, was applied to the 2009-10 League One season.
Outcome: Survived. Parent company Southampton Leisure Holdings plc in administration; League ruled club and parent one economic entity. Saints were relegated, so the 10 points applied in 2009-10 League One. Club sold to Markus Liebherr's company on 8 July 2009; SLH in creditors' voluntary liquidation from 25 Feb 2010.
