    Millwall Holdings plc announced on 21 January 1997 that it had sought an administration order, with debts of around GBP 10m. The football company entered administration on 30 January 1997 with David Buchler as administrator. No points deduction applied (the Football League's automatic administration penalty did not exist until 2004-05).

    Outcome: Survived. A CVA was approved on 20 May 1997 and the administration discharged on 26 June 1997 (Companies House). The club continued in the Second Division.
