Already relegated from the Football League, Halifax Town entered administration in April 2002 with debts of almost GBP 900,000. Local businessmen rescued the club and it came out of administration in March 2003.
Owner at the time: Bob Walker (chairman)
Outcome: Survived. Creditors accepted proposals from a group of 10 local businessmen in August 2002; administration formally ended in the High Court on 28 March 2003. Club played 2002-03 in the Conference after relegation.

Halifax Town entered administration on 14 March 2008 (court hearing 26 March) in the Conference Premier and were deducted 10 points, but finished 20th. When creditors rejected the CVA the club was demoted, folded, and was replaced by the new club FC Halifax Town.
Outcome: Phoenix club. CVA failed after HMRC rejected it (May 2008); club demoted two divisions and its FA appeal failed on 11-12 June 2008. Halifax Town AFC folded and FC Halifax Town was formed, playing 2008-09 in Northern Premier League Division One North. Old company compulsorily wound up from 6 Mar 2009.
