    Just promoted from the Third Division, Chesterfield were formally placed in administration by a Leeds court with debts of about GBP 650,000 after Darren Brown's ownership; the supporters' society had bought a 78% stake. The separate 9-point deduction in 2000-01 was for financial irregularities, not insolvency, and is not counted.

    Outcome: Survived. High Court approved administrators' proposals to settle debts on 15 June 2001; club continued under supporter ownership (CFSS).
