Lloyds Bank called in administrative receivers at Second Division Bournemouth, with debts reported at GBP 3.7m to 4.4m, and receivers were appointed on 24 January 1997. The club was saved by a community trust led by Trevor Watkins. Receivership is recorded here as an administration-type event. No points deduction applied (the Football League's automatic administration penalty did not exist until 2004-05).
Outcome: Survived. A CVA was approved on 9 April 1997, the assets passed to the supporter-led community club on 18 June 1997, and the receivers ceased to act on 31 October 1997.

Bournemouth entered administration (Begbies Traynor, Gerald Krasner) with debts of about GBP 4m and were docked 10 points in League One. Unable to agree a CVA, the club accepted a 17-point deduction for 2008-09 as the Football League's condition for staying in the League.

Outcome: Survived. 10 points in 2007-08 (League One, relegated) and 17 points for 2008-09 (League Two) for exiting administration without a CVA; Sport-6 announced as new owners July 2008. Old company in creditors' voluntary liquidation from 17 Sep 2008.
