Aldershot timeline
- · Fourth Division · Administration
In summer 1990 Aldershot were declared 'hopelessly insolvent' and faced a High Court winding-up order. They survived when Spencer Trethewy pledged GBP 200,000. The club played on, so this is recorded as an administration-type insolvency event rather than a winding-up. No points deduction applied (the Football League's automatic administration penalty did not exist until 2004-05).
Outcome: Survived. The winding-up order was averted or lifted after 19-year-old Spencer Trethewy pledged GBP 200,000, and the club started 1990-91 in the Fourth Division. Trethewy was removed from the board months later, and the club folded in March 1992 (separate row).

- · Fourth Division · Wound up
Aldershot FC officially went out of business on 25 March 1992 and became the first League club to fold during a season since Accrington Stanley in 1962. Their Fourth Division record was expunged. No points deduction applied (the Football League's automatic administration penalty did not exist until 2004-05).
Outcome: Phoenix club. The club ceased mid-season, its last game was at Cardiff on 20 March 1992, and its 1991-92 record was expunged. Supporters formed Aldershot Town, which restarted in the Isthmian League Third Division.
