Podcast 188: Winning at Dominoes 18 – Reinventing Coventry, The Jimmy Hill Way
In this week’s episode of Winning at Dominoes, we have the story of how one man, with the support of another, reinvented a moribund Third Division football club. Coventry City had one Third Division South Championship and a couple of promotions to show for a little over four decades in the Football League when Jimmy Hill arrived there at the end of 1961. Hill’s far-sightedness, backed by the money and the support of chairman Derrick Robins, took the club from the nether regions of the Third Division into the First in five and a half years;. but Hill also gave Coventry City its identity. He literally made the club what it became for so long. And this was only one chapter of his life.
