This evening’s Videos Of The Week come again from the non-league game. This weekend saw the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy. It’s the final round of the competition before the clubs of the Blue Square Premier enter the competition, so there is a potential reward for the competing teams. With a final at Wembley the ultimate reward, there is all to play for and our first match comes from it. Our first match sees Dartford of the Blue Square South travel to Thurrock. The two teams are both battling relegation from that league at the moment, so this match might turn out to be a welcome relief from their poor league form.
The second match also comes from the FA Trophy. Welling United have had their fair share of financial difficulties so far this season, but on the pitch they have been having quite a successful time of it and currently sit in third place in the Blue Square South. They were at home on Saturday afternoon against Tonbridge Angels of the Ryman League Premier Division. Tonbridge were also subject to rumours about their situation earlier this year, but they have had a reasonable start to the season and are in eleventh place in the table.
Our third match comes from the Premier Division of the Zamaretto League. Weymouth’s difficulties have been extensively documented on this site and don’t seem to have fully abated yet. They have been deducted ten points for entering into administration at the end of March last year, and going into Saturday’s match this meant that they had acquired just five points so far this season and are clear at the bottom of the table. Still, having lost two successive matches by 9-0 and 7-2 scorelines they had drawn their three previous matches going into a home match against a mid-table Bedford Town side. Look out for two spectacular goals in this match.
Finally, it’s down to the Vodkat North West Counties League Division One for the match between AFC Liverpool and Ashton Town. Just six points seperate the top six clubs in this division, and AFC Liverpool are in second place in the table behind AFC Blackpool, although they did beat Blackpool last weekend in the FA Vase.
As ever, our thanks go to the volunteers that film, edit down and upload these matches for our viewing pleasure. None of this would be here were it not for them.
