The Twohundredpercent Pre-Season Predictions: Conference South

There is a lot of money flying about in the Blue Square South this season as the teams jostle to fill the void at the top left by Braintree Town and Ebbsfleet United. The gap between those with a decent budget and those without seems to be growing a bit more in the southern half of Step 2 than in the northern half. Oh and all the teams who have enjoyed a nice little comfort zone around the M25 and M4 corridor have a lovely jaunt down to Cornwall to look forward too. Promotion Contenders Woking seem to be nailed on favourites to win the league and its certain that they have a very strong squad. But they will face some stiff competition from Dover Athletic, Chelmsford City and Eastbourne Borough. Gary Hill turned the squad when he joined as manager last season so expect big things in his first full season in charge, reports from pre-season games suggest they are looking like a quality side already. The fact that some players have taken a wage cut in order to stay suggests a team with proper ambition. Dover Athletic may have lost talisman striker Adam Birchall to Gillingham but they should still give the top teams a run for their money. In comes George Purcell from York CIty, he’s full fit after an injury-ravaged season but should be on...

The (Possibly Un)Welcome Return Of Non-League Videos Of The Week

The Football League begins its new season next weekend, but non-league football doesn’t begin again for a couple of weeks. With this in mind, it’s time to take a quick look around how some clubs are doing in their pre-season friendlies. All of these matches are from the last couple of weeks and, it has to be said, we have no details on how strong the teams taking part in these matches my or may not have been. Anyway, as a teaser for the start of the new season, here’s a quick look at: York City vs Hartlepool United, Woking vs Charlton Athletic, Bury Town vs Colchester United, Chorley vs Bolton Wanderers and Mansfield Town vs Notts County. Non-League Videos Of The Week: The Play-Offs

The Premier League season is still going and the Football League season ended at the weekend, but the non-league play-offs have already begun and, in some cases, have already ended. The Ryman League Premier Division play-off final was played on Saturday between Tonbridge Angels and Lowestoft Town, with the semi-finals having seen Tonbridge having beaten Harrow Borough and Lowestoft Town having won a local derby against Bury Town.   In the Football Conference, meanwhile, the semi-finals are played over two legs. In the Blue Square North, AFC Telford United travelled to Warwickshire to play Nuneaton Town in the first leg of their semi-final last week, looking to take an advantage back to New Bucks Head for the second leg of their match.   Finally, in the Blue Square South, there was another derby match in the semi-finals as Woking played Farnborough FC in the first leg of their semi-final last Wednesday, whilst Chelmsford City were at home against Ebbsfleet United in their first leg the night before.     Follow Twohundredpercent on Twitter...

Non-League Videos Of The Week: The Blue Square South

There are just four weeks left to go of the season in the Blue Square South, one of the two feeder leagues to the Blue Square Premier, and there is still all to play for at the top of the table. This week’s Non-League Videos Of The Week features six of the top eight in the league, and with the battle for the title and for the four play-off places still wide open, there is still all to play for. At the very top of the table, there was just one point between the leaders, Braintree Town, and second-placed Farnborough. In our first match, Braintree have a golden chance to win three points against Dorchester Town, who are sitting just above the relegation places but have probably just about done enough to secure their place in the division for next season. Meanwhile, at Cherrywood Road Farnborough FC were at home against Bromley. Farnborough have trimmed Braintree’s lead at the top of the table down to a single point at the top of the table, whilst Bromley are in mid-table, probably a little too far from the play-off places to be able to launch a challenge of their own. Still, with the nerves starting to jangle as the end of the season looms on the horizon, there are no matches for clubs at the top of the table that can...
