Non-League Videos Of The Week: 14/05/2012

Well, this is the final edition of Non-League Videos Of The Week for this season, but we do at least have a round-up games that are well worth an hour of your time. We kick-off with a double-bill from Wembley, with highlights of Saturday’s FA Trophy final between York City and Newport County, followed by Sunday’s FA Vase final between Dunston UTS and West Auckland. Then we have extended highlights from the Blue Square South play-off final between Dartford and Welling United and the only goal of the match from the Blue Square North play-off final – complete with the musical accompaniment of the Electric Light Orchestra – between Gainsborough Trinity and Nuneaton Town. And finally, we have the final of the Surrey Senior Cup, played at Kingsmeadow between Woking and Sutton United. Our thanks go to all those that have taken the time to record, edit and upload these videos. You can follow Twohundredpercent on Twitter by clicking...

Non-League Videos Of The Week: 22-04-2012

It’s the penultimate week of the non-league season, and while most of the championship issues have now been resolved there are still relegation places to be filled at the bottom of many of the tables. We’ve got a mixture of the top and the bottom of the tables for you this evening, kicking off with the bottom of the Blue Square Premier. The relegation places are already decided, but AFC Telford United went into their final home match of the season looking to boost their league position with a win against Grimsby Town, while Newport County prepared for their forthcoming FA Trophy final with a home match against Alfreton Town and Forest Green Rovers played already relegated Darlington. In the Blue Square Bet South, meanwhile, champions Woking were at home against Truro City, whilst at the bottom of the table Farnborough and Havant & Waterlooville both went into their match at Cherrywood Road needing a win to avoid relegation from the division. Finally, we’re off to the Southern League Premier Division, where Weymouth needed a win against Hitching Town in order to guarantee avoiding relegation themselves. Our thanks, as ever, go to those that take the time to record, edit and upload these matches. You can follow Twohundredpercent on Twitter by clicking...

Non-League Videos Of The Week: 15-04-2012

It’s almost the end of the non-league season, so we’ve got six matches from the tops and bottoms of varying divisions for you this evening. At the top of the Blue Square Bet South, a win for Woking at Maidenhead United would be enough to take the title back to Kingfield, while if they failed Dartford could keep the title race going for another week if they could win at Sutton United. Next up, we’re off to the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League, where Hednesford Town wanted to continue to push for a play-off place with a win at troubled Northwich Victoria. Meanwhile, at the other end of that table, Stafford Rangers were at home against Buxton. Next up, the hot favourites to win the Northern League are West Auckland FC, and they were away to Bishop Auckland. Finally, a win for Guildford City against Raynes Park Vale would be enough to win Combined Counties League. Our thanks, as ever, go to those who take the time to record, edit and upload these videos. Tom Davis: The Career Of A Blue Square South Journeyman

Some people find their way in the world as a jack of all trades, spending their talents over a range of different tasks. Others, meanwhile, discover that they can do one thing, but do it very well. Midfielder Tom Davis didn’t quite make the grade as a Premier League professional and he has also tried other divisions, but like a compass pointing involuntarily north, he always seems to find his way back to the division that he has called home for the lions share of his career: the Blue Square Bet South. There are, of course, plenty of other players that have made this particular division their home since its introduction eight years ago, but none have done it with quite the level of success that Davis has managed. The midfielder started his career in the youth set-up at Fulham, but since dropping down into the non-league game has played in no less than three teams that have been promoted from this division, with a potential fourth being on the cards this season following his signing on loan by the manager of the current league leaders, Woking. The Surrey club had been sailing off into the distance at the top of the table but – in spite of a defeat against struggling Eastbourne Borough last weekend – they have since his arrival at Kingsfield started to improve again after...

Non-League Videos Of The Week: 25-03-12

Promotion, relegation and Wembley are very much on our minds for this week’s Non-League Videos Of The Week, which feature matches from the Blue Square Premier, the Blue Square South, the FA Vase and the North West Counties Football League Challenge Cup. Things are tight at the bottom of the Blue Square Premier table. Whilst there is a gap between the bottom three – Darlington, Kettering Town and Bath City – and the rest, the final relegation place remains very much up for grabs, with just four points now separating Stockport County in seventeenth place and Hayes & Yeading United in twenty-first place. Yesterday afternoon, Hayes & Yeading United had a critical home match against another side looking nervously over its shoulder at the moment, AFC Telford United. Whilst Hayes & Yeading United were availing themselves of Wokings facilities at Kingsfield, their hosts were away from home in the Blue Square Bet South against Eastbourne Borough. Four straight wins had set The Cards back on track after a wobble in the league, but a trip to Eastbourne, who themselves are still by no means safe from relegation, proved to be considerably tougher than they might have anticipated. Meanwhile, the first leg of the semi-finals of the FA Vase were played this weekend, and West Auckland Town of the Northern League had a long trip to Kent to play Herne...
