Non-League Videos Of The Week: The Play-Offs

The Premier League season is still going and the Football League season ended at the weekend, but the non-league play-offs have already begun and, in some cases, have already ended. The Ryman League Premier Division play-off final was played on Saturday between Tonbridge Angels and Lowestoft Town, with the semi-finals having seen Tonbridge having beaten Harrow Borough and Lowestoft Town having won a local derby against Bury Town.   In the Football Conference, meanwhile, the semi-finals are played over two legs. In the Blue Square North, AFC Telford United travelled to Warwickshire to play Nuneaton Town in the first leg of their semi-final last week, looking to take an advantage back to New Bucks Head for the second leg of their match.   Finally, in the Blue Square South, there was another derby match in the semi-finals as Woking played Farnborough FC in the first leg of their semi-final last Wednesday, whilst Chelmsford City were at home against Ebbsfleet United in their first leg the night before.     Follow Twohundredpercent on Twitter...

Non-League Videos Of The Week

We have a lot of videos to get through for this week’s non-league videos of the week, as the non-league season comes to an end and the end of season play-offs begin. First up, comes a match from the race for the play-off places in the Blue Square South. With Braintree Town already promoted to the Blue Square Premier as champions of the division, most eyes on the last day of the season turned to the question of who will be joining them. Chelmsford City have been hanging around the play-off places for most of the season, and they went into their final league match of the season knowing that a win would guarantee them a place in the Blue Square South play-offs. They were at home against a Hampton & Richmond Borough side that have spent much of their season just above the relegation places and who went into Saturday’s match already safe in the knowledge that they were just about already safe.   The Blue Square South play-off semi-finals will, therefore, be between Farnborough FC and Woking, while Chelmsford City will travel to Ebbsfleet United in the other match. In the Premier Division of the Ryman League, meanwhile, a similar situation had arisen. Sutton United had been crowned as the champions of the division several weeks ago, but the race for the play-off places has been one...

Non-League Videos Of The Week

We have got four matches for you as our non-league videos of the week selection tonight. First up is a match between two teams chasing play-off places in the Blue Square South, Woking and Farnborough FC. Farnborough started the day in third place, but knew that anything other than a win could see Welling United leapfrog them on goal difference. Woking, meanwhile much improved under new manager Garry Hill and are now up to eighth place in the table. Our second match comes from the Blue Square North, and is a match between another two clubs around or about the play-off places, Blyth Spartans and Solihull Moors. Solihull are in fifth place – the last play-off spot, with Blyth just below them. Blyth, however, go into this match four points behind Solihull and desperately need three points to close the gap on their opponents in the league. We have mentioned before on this site how tight the top half of the Ryman League Premier Division is this season, and the next match up is between two teams at either end of that particular rat run. Tonbridge Angels are in fourth place in the league. They’re eleven points behind the leaders Sutton United, but only eight points ahead of Canvey Island, down in tenth place in the table. They met each other in a league match last Tuesday night. Finally,...

Videos Of The Week: Non-League Special

This evening’s Videos Of The Week come again from the non-league game. This weekend saw the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy. It’s the final round of the competition before the clubs of the Blue Square Premier enter the competition, so there is a potential reward for the competing teams. With a final at Wembley the ultimate reward, there is all to play for and our first match comes from it. Our first match sees Dartford of the Blue Square South travel to Thurrock. The two teams are both battling relegation from that league at the moment, so this match might turn out to be a welcome relief from their poor league form. The second match also comes from the FA Trophy. Welling United have had their fair share of financial difficulties so far this season, but on the pitch they have been having quite a successful time of it and currently sit in third place in the Blue Square South. They were at home on Saturday afternoon against Tonbridge Angels of the Ryman League Premier Division. Tonbridge were also subject to rumours about their situation earlier this year, but they have had a reasonable start to the season and are in eleventh place in the table. Our third match comes from the Premier Division of the Zamaretto League. Weymouth’s difficulties have been extensively documented on this site...
