Non-League Videos Of The Week: The Last Of The Bank Holiday Rush

Normal service is now to resume after the somewhat chaotic Christmas and New Year matches, but we’re going to spend a little time catching up with the last of the festive highlights from over the course of the last three days or so. We have six matches lined up for you this evening. From the Blue Square Premier, we have highlights of the matches between Wrexham & AFC Telford United and Forest Green Rovers. In the Blue Square South, we have highlights of another derby match, this time between Tonbridge Angels & Bromley, and this is followed by two matches from the Southern Football League, between Fleet Town & Slough Town, and Cambridge City & Oxford City. Finally, we have a match from the Northern League, between North Shields & Alnwick Town. Our thanks go to those that take the time to record, edit and upload these matches. Non-League Videos Of The Week: Supporter-Owned Clubs Special

It’s a slightly different time for our non-league videos of the week, and this week we’re focussing on clubs that are owned by their supporters again. First up is the match from the Evostik League Premier Division between FC United of Manchester and Worksop Town. A couple of months ago, we could have been forgiven for thinking that FC United’s league season was grinding to a halt, but they have won seven of their last nine matches and now have an excellent chance of making the play-offs at the end of the season. Their opposition, Worksop Town, are in mid-table but with several games in hand on the teams above them will surely not have given up on their ambitions of making the play-offs either. In the Blue Square Premier, Wimbledon have come rather unstuck of late. They were at home against Kidderminster Harriers having won just one of their last four matches. They lost top place in the table to Crawley Town last week, but need to keep winning to sure up their chances of a play-off place. Kidderminster Harriers, meanwhile, found themselves deducted five points earlier in the season but still have ambitions of finishing in the play-off places themselves, although they have played more matches that the other clubs around them in the table. AFC Liverpool are in seventh place in the First Division of the...

FA Cup Third Round Preview

Another FA Cup Third Round has come around, and again the biggest clubs in the land have to get down and dirty against teams that they don’t usually have to come up against. With the Premier League looking like it will go to the wire again this season, more managers will be tempted to take their chances and field weakened sides this weekend. The wisdom of this is, of course questionable. From a practical point of view, Reading’s experience of last season demonstrated that picking half a first team in the Third Round and getting knocked out as quickly as possible doesn’t make a jot of difference if your form is in free-fall. Still, let’s take a moment to enjoy (then) Reading striker Dave Kitson’s comment on the last subject from last January: We are not going to win the FA Cup and I do not care less about it, to be honest. Who says that romance is dead, eh? Just as a quick coda to Kitson’s Premier League odyssey with Reading last season, let’s just bring ourselves up to date with how that all turned out. Reading were relegated at the end of the season, and Dave Kitson was transferred to Stoke City at the end of last season. So far, he has failed to score this season in the Premier League. Quite aside from any practical considerations...
