Non-League Videos Of The Week: 22-04-2012

It’s the penultimate week of the non-league season, and while most of the championship issues have now been resolved there are still relegation places to be filled at the bottom of many of the tables. We’ve got a mixture of the top and the bottom of the tables for you this evening, kicking off with the bottom of the Blue Square Premier. The relegation places are already decided, but AFC Telford United went into their final home match of the season looking to boost their league position with a win against Grimsby Town, while Newport County prepared for their forthcoming FA Trophy final with a home match against Alfreton Town and Forest Green Rovers played already relegated Darlington. In the Blue Square Bet South, meanwhile, champions Woking were at home against Truro City, whilst at the bottom of the table Farnborough and Havant & Waterlooville both went into their match at Cherrywood Road needing a win to avoid relegation from the division. Finally, we’re off to the Southern League Premier Division, where Weymouth needed a win against Hitching Town in order to guarantee avoiding relegation themselves. Non-League Videos Of The Week: 09-10-2011

The football clubs of the Premier League and the Championship had a break for another round of international matches this weekend, but there were few such luxuries for the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers of non-league football with a round of fixtures which included the Preliminary Round of another competition which has suffered a little damage to its reputation in recent years, the FA Trophy. We have four matches for you this evening, one from the Blue Square Premier, one from the Blue Square South, one from Division One of the Northern League and one from the FA Trophy itself. First up is a match between two clubs with upwardly mobile ambitions this season. Mansfield Town are hanging around on the brink of a place in the Blue Square Premier play-offs, whilst Grimsby Town, meanwhile, have recovered from a dreadful start to the season and are now heading towards the middle of the table. Our second match is the Blue Square South match between Havant & Waterlooville and Bromley. Havant have had a diifficult start to the season and are not far above the relegation places in the table, while Bromley are in mid-table with one eye on an end of season play-off place. Our final two matches are from a slightly lower level of the non-league game. In Division One of the Northern League, Spennymoor Town are chasing...

The Twohundredpercent Pre-Season Predictions: Conference South

There is a lot of money flying about in the Blue Square South this season as the teams jostle to fill the void at the top left by Braintree Town and Ebbsfleet United. The gap between those with a decent budget and those without seems to be growing a bit more in the southern half of Step 2 than in the northern half. Oh and all the teams who have enjoyed a nice little comfort zone around the M25 and M4 corridor have a lovely jaunt down to Cornwall to look forward too. Promotion Contenders Woking seem to be nailed on favourites to win the league and its certain that they have a very strong squad. But they will face some stiff competition from Dover Athletic, Chelmsford City and Eastbourne Borough. Gary Hill turned the squad when he joined as manager last season so expect big things in his first full season in charge, reports from pre-season games suggest they are looking like a quality side already. The fact that some players have taken a wage cut in order to stay suggests a team with proper ambition. Dover Athletic may have lost talisman striker Adam Birchall to Gillingham but they should still give the top teams a run for their money. In comes George Purcell from York CIty, he’s full fit after an injury-ravaged season but should be on...

Non-League Videos Of The Week

The Easter weekend is traditionally the weekend during which most non-league promotion and relegation issues are sorted out one way or the other and, with a round of fixtures to be played this afternoon, we’re going to take a moment to catch up with some of Saturday’s matches. Our first match comes from the foot of the Blue Square South. Havant & Waterlooville’s league season is effectively over, but Saturday was critical for Lewes, who went into Saturday’s match desperately needing a win to maintain any realistic chance of staying up. They are at home against relegation rivals Bishops Stortford this afternoon. At the top of the same table, Ebbsfleet United, in third place in the table, are more or less guaranteed a place in the play-offs, but Chelmsford City sit just outside of the top five and were another team in desperate need of three points on the road with a trip to Ebbsfleet on Good Friday. A win would leave Chelmsford just a point off the play-off places and they are also at home this afternoon, against Bromley. Another team chasing a play-off place are Wrexham, in the Blue Square Premier. We’ll have a further update on what has been going on at The Racecourse Ground this evening, but on the pitch the team has been continuing to go reasonably well and on Saturday they were away...
