Non-League Videos Of The Week: The FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round

This week’s Non-League Videos of The Week are a day late, but we think that we they are are worth the wait. This week, we are concentrating on the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy. With a place in the First Round of the competition at stake, this is a competition with a very tangible prize at the end of it – a day out at Wembley come the end of the season. And whilst the clubs of the Blue Square Premier, who join the competition in the next round, may be more focussed upon trying to bag themselves a Wembley trip in the Blue Square Premier play-offs come the end of the season, the clubs from below the top division of non-league football also have a chance of booking themselves at Wembley. We’ll cut straight to the chase this evening, our five matches are Chelmsford City vs Woking, Guiseley AFC vs Eastwood Town, Matlock Town vs Hyde, Hampton & Richmond Borough vs Canvey Island and Eastbourne Borough vs Dartford. Our thanks, as ever, go to those that take the time to record, edit and upload these videos. You can follow Twohundredpercent on Twitter by clicking here...

Match Of The Week: Sutton United 2-0 Canvey Island

England are playing today, apparently, although you wouldn’t necessarily know this from a trip to Gander Green Lane this afternoon. The intuitive thing to think would be that the pull of sitting (or, on an afternoon like this, more likely standing) in a pub watching England play out their match against Wales would might have had a calamitous effect on non-league attendances this afternoon, but this is certainly not the case at Sutton today. There are over 700 people here today – it’s one of their higher attendances of the season – and this, perhaps, says a little about the severed relationship between the national team and the die-hard supporters of the game in this country at present. There is nowhere, one feels, that anybody here this afternoon would rather be in the world than here, watching Sutton United play Canvey Island in the Premier Division of the Ryman League. Sutton’s supporters can be forgiven a a glass half full attitude at the moment, of course. After several years of almost imperceptibly slow decline, from what is now the Blue Square Premier to the Ryman League over the last eleven years, they have raced to the top of the table this season and seem set to return to the Blue Square South at the end of the season. The England match has forced many non-league clubs to move their...

Non-League Videos Of The Week

We have got four matches for you as our non-league videos of the week selection tonight. First up is a match between two teams chasing play-off places in the Blue Square South, Woking and Farnborough FC. Farnborough started the day in third place, but knew that anything other than a win could see Welling United leapfrog them on goal difference. Woking, meanwhile much improved under new manager Garry Hill and are now up to eighth place in the table. Our second match comes from the Blue Square North, and is a match between another two clubs around or about the play-off places, Blyth Spartans and Solihull Moors. Solihull are in fifth place – the last play-off spot, with Blyth just below them. Blyth, however, go into this match four points behind Solihull and desperately need three points to close the gap on their opponents in the league. We have mentioned before on this site how tight the top half of the Ryman League Premier Division is this season, and the next match up is between two teams at either end of that particular rat run. Tonbridge Angels are in fourth place in the league. They’re eleven points behind the leaders Sutton United, but only eight points ahead of Canvey Island, down in tenth place in the table. They met each other in a league match last Tuesday night. Finally,...
