The normal season has now more or less finished and Mungo McCrackas is taking an ill-deserved break from football before coming back to our screens with our World Cup special series, “Mungo In Africa”, which starts in a couple of weeks or so. To fill this void, though, we are proud to be able to present some more sample pages from the magazine “Substitute!”, which will bring you some of the backstage gossip from the Clackins Park colosseum, palatial home of Heart of Clackmannanshire FC, as well as the opportunity to meet some of the players.
This week’s “Substitute!” introduces you to the club’s two new goalkeepers. Following serious injuries to Rab “Flappins” McGinty and “Dangerous” Ducky Norton last season, Heart of Clackmannanhire’s chairman Sir Roddy Bulbs has splashed out on two new goalkeepers – the Costa Rican Redge Lepper, and teenage sensation Hoxton Solly. Whether this will result in The Clackas doing any better than avoiding relegation on the last day of the season in extremely unlikely circumstances, however, remains to be seen. As ever, your weekly Mungo fix (brought to you this week in glorious Technicolor) is cobbled together from the most lucid of Ted Carter’s dreams and, for a higher resolution, all you have to do is go here.
