Top stuff, I think you are a little confused with your dates re relegation but that doesn’t matter

(we were relegated in 2006 after 3 years of mid table finishes)
(in2008 we were relegated after being promoted in 2007)

a really good read though I must say, and if I may, I will copy this and post it inthe blues forum.

When I saw the headline, I thought ‘here we go again’ another article written by some wind up merchant supporter of another club, predicting (actually hoping) that Blues would be struggling this coming season.
A pleasant surprise then to read a reasoned, well balanced review of the goings on at St Andrews.
I don’t think you’ll find many Blues fans predicting anything other than a long, difficult season. Not for us the glib predictions of Champions League football made by some not too far away from here.
    Good article.

Paul, I’ll out myself as a Villa fan but I don’t know any Villa fans who think getting into the Champions League places is going to be anything other than extremely unlikely.

Blues will be ok this year, McLeish is a decent manager and has made them hard to beat – nothing wrong with that.

Birmingham looked like a pretty well-drilled outfit last season and there was a period where they seemed like genuine contenders for a European place this season.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work-out the way they hoped but I think they’ll have another solid, if unspectacular, season in 2010-11.
The addition of Foster in goal should help their defence, although whether Valles will make much of a difference remains to be seen.

[…] The Premier League 2010/11 Previews 3 – Birmingham City: Second Season Blues? “Between the battle at the top of the table and the chaos at the bottom of it, the achievement of Birmingham City in finishing in ninth place in the Premier League last season feels as if it was rather overlooked. It was their first season back after promotion the year before and, significantly, it was their highest league position since 1959. Those that continue to look back at the 1970s as being somehow the halcyon days of the club (which, one rather suspects, may at least in part have entered into local folklore because of the club’s dominance of their cross-city rivals Aston Villa) would do well to look at last season’s final Premier League.” (twohundredpercent) […]
