I don’t want to sound alarmist, and I’m not certain this is the correct time or place to cause a ruckus , but I’m concerned that Mungo and team have surfed away on one of the infamous South African crime waves.

In other news, the country of Venezuela will forever be associated with shit plastic trumpets

I thought Van Bommel was quite unlucky to get booked for what he did get booked for — but then, he had been quite as lucky to not get booked for what he did not get booked for, so we’ll call it poetic justice.

(The essence, for those who didn’t see the match, is thus.
    (1) As one Gary Naylor put it, writing in to the Guardian’s liveblog of the match: “Like Johnny Giles, van Bommel is a skilful player who is so late with his so nasty fouls that he gets away with them,” and that’s about right. He committed only three whistle-blowing fouls during the match, but two of those were eminently cardable. The ref spared him, though, and spared him again.
    (2) Then, at the very end of the match, in the fifth minute of injury time (three had been declared), the referee blew his whistle. It had been for a free kick; Mark, unluckily, took it to be the end of the match, and booted the ball into the stands. Thence his card. Unlucky, for once, but such is life.)

I dont think it was a boring match, it was full of goals and action, and Holland played better. Uruguay tried their best to score their third goal afterr the second but just didnt manage it!
