I’m not sure why Ian needs to describe Luton as the “nearest natural predator” as the support for LTFC from Bedford has always been lukewarm at best as most Bedfordians tend to look down their noses at Luton. I believe that most locals either follow the Rugby team or have jumped on the Franchise FC bandwagon, much to their shame and my disgust.

There are quite a few folk who live in the Bedford area that have watched/do watch Rushden and Diamonds.
Currently there would be many more that have migrated to MK Dons rather than Luton.

The location of the ground is certainly the main issue behind the low attendances. I know of many football supporters who go reguarly to watch the towns rugby team instead because their ground is within five minutes walk of the town centre

  4. It all went wrong when the old “Bedford” died. Pity the then local authority couldn’t save the club.
