Less than a tenner? not in the Conference, and probably not Conference North/South either. As a Stockport County fan I’ve been reluctantly introduced to Non-League football over the past two years. They were pretty grim and it’s about to get grimmer. The top half of the Conference National isn’t that much worse than League Two in terms of playing standard but outside the ex-league clubs, everything is greyer, more worn out, more depressing. With the Conference National being a graveyard for ex-league clubs, that might explain declining attendances. Bankrolled teams i.e. Crawley/Stevenage/Morecambe/Fleetwood have monopolised the promotion places, with two up, two down from League 2 it’s difficult to escape. Of course there’s no excuse for a proper club dropping down again like us, but that’s another story….
