    Well put.

What a great article. Ted Croker should have considered the lack of a knighthood a badge of honour given Thatcher’s seeming determination to hound the game out of existence. Suzanne Moore is an out of touch hack in her own little ivory tower.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall when Ms Moore discovers football has been part of the Olympic Games since 1900.

A great article- thoroughly enjoyable, well thought out/ reasoned and very well written.
Now do football in this country a greater service and do an intelligent and diligent piece on why the football powers- that- be seem incapable of producing a transparent, consistent and fair financial malpractice disciplinary process. I’m not kidding, for example go compare the latest judgments on Watford and with what was handed out to Luton for lesser offences. If it happened in the Third World ,you wouldn’t be surprised but in England, the cradle of the game- impossible.
The national press don’t think it’s important enough to bother with but transparency is important for most human activities and for football to thrive in these islands, one thing it must be seen to possess is integrity. Do fans think all clubs are treated the same way- I very much doubt it. It seems to depend on how big your lawyers are !

Brilliant article. Suggest you send a copy to Ms Moore in response to her crass article.

Better than that, how about asking The Guardian for the right to reply? They do sometimes, rarely, allow it.

Yeah – this should go up on CiF.
