We continue our series of archive videos of the clubs of the Football League Championship with Millwall, and six matches spanning the years between 1972 and 1995. We kick off with a team that is amongst the finest that the club has ever produced. At the end of the previous season, Millwall had finished in third place in the Second Division, narrowly missing out on promotion with only two automatic places available and no play-off places. This match is from the year after that. While Millwall were unable to repeat the adventures of the 1971/72 season for quite a while, they still put in a respectable performance that season and our first match is a home match against Brighton & Hove Albion from November 1972. Our second match, meanwhile, is another Second Division match, this time from September 1976 and it sees Millwall at home against Chelsea at The Den.

We then have three matches from the 1980s. First up is an FA Cup Fifth Round match from February 1986 which sees Millwall travel to The Dell to play Southampton. Then come two matches from another golden period for Millwall. The first of these is a trip to Dean Court to play AFC Bournemouth with four games to play of a 1987/88 season which saw the club promoted to the First Division at its end for the first time in its history, and the second of these sees Millwall, by now in the First Division and having settled in quite successfully, playing Aston Villa in March 1989. Our final match, meanwhile, is a return to the FA Cup, and is a Third Round replay at Highbury against Arsenal from January 1995.
