Let’s not get this out of proportion. Allegedly Mr Sheard is nothing but an intermediary for an American/Canadian consortium, a sort of go-between. It ISN’T Sheard who is looking to buy the club himself.
Mike Ashley will, in all likelihood, withdraw the club from sale come Tuesday morning and persevere with a depleted squad in the hope of promotion to the PL and then, surprise, place the club up for sale once again. But knowing Mike Ashley, anything is possible. Oh for some stability at this moment in time!

And according the local press, the alleged consortium flew into London last night for meetings with Seymour Pierce to finalise the deal. Again, open to conjecture but the same paper alleged of the American/Canadian interest a little over 3/4 weeks ago. It may come to nothing, it probably will. Fingers crossed though.

Very well written. There’s so much crap around

Sir Bobby was and is our only ‘Knight’ in shining armour. Geoff Sheard is either a businessman looking for publicity or an intermediary looking for a fast buck from the Americans (allegedly). Either way, he’ll be gone in the blink of an eye. It would take someone special to warrant your title even if he makes something happen. There are fleeting heroes and then there are legends.

The anti-Newcastle agenda on this site is an absolute disgrace Mr admin

Spot on Mr Admin! We waited and waited for the elusine deal to be done for over six torturous months! If you look a bit further into the Yorkshire Post Investigations i think it was alleged the backers were swiss based and had had dealings in Derby County which didnt end well

  7. Mark Murphy says:

Fair point about Sheard. And it looks like you may be right about Ashley this week.

    Owl 1867,

The Post investigations that I took notes on focussed on Downes and the Dominican bank’s involvement. Reports earlier in the year in the Star and Telegraph did use the term “Swiss-backed” many times. Many, MANY times.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: In June 08, the local press linked one A. Shearer to the Owls manager’s job. Only for a day, though (the 13th). So, I don’t know if that’s at all relevant. Anyone know who he is?

    (these anti-Newcastle agenda, eh?)

  8. Mr Magoo says:

Geoff Sheard isn’t going to buy the club the guy is bankrupt. He has no way of paying his personal debts he can’t even buy the house he lives in. That guy is wasting everyones time, trust me i know from first hand experience!

  9. John says:

Does no one realise that he made his wife bankrupt too, then left her???
