    God, yes. The group stage is ridiculous — it’s no wonder that Newcastle and Palermo both put out weakened sides, because they knew that they still had umpteen games to qualify for the next round. Plus, if they pared it down, there’d be less whining from teams about being tired from playing too many games. (They’d be whining about other things, but when is that ever going to change?)

    I think giving the UEFA Cup finalists a place in the Champions League is a good idea too…although I’m not sure I agree that Liverpool haven’t done anything to deserve their spot, considering that they did win the damn thing a couple years ago.

    see, I disagree about the Thurs night thing. I remeber when it used to be CWC on the tues, the EC on the Wed and the UEFA cup on the Thurs, some of the best nights of my life have been spent on a Thurs watching UEFA Cup action.

    Cannon? UEFA? Yes please…
