Brilliant stuff. Have to say that I love season previews. What are the chances of the Blue Square Premier being shown on Eurosport? Hear a couple of rumours about that.

    Excellent and comprehensive preview. Thanks.

I doubt we (Wimbledon) will be as high as 9th in our first season back at our “natural level” after such rapid recent progression. A lower mid-table finish like Eastbourne’s last season for our young team would be a good platform for us to build on in the longer-term.

Setanta’s collapse ought to hurt the clubs with smaller support proportionally more, but with considerable external sponsorship keeping several clubs at this level, it’s hard to say for sure. Histon will do much better than you predict for that reason.

  3. Following today’s events at Cambridge United, there is no way we will be anywhere near the play offs. If we achieve mid table, I, for one, will be ecstatic. Histon are a well run club, and will be significantly higher than 14th. Good luck to AFC as well.

Thanks for the thoughtful article as ever; I hope you don’t mind the pedant’s correction that Branston ended up at Burton and not with us (Torquay).

Love the comments made about my side York, made me laugh. Hopefully we’ll be in and around that area by Xmas then who knows.

Excellent summary of the prospects for the forthcoming season; one quibble on the Kidderminster Harriers part; we did in fact lose half the first team close season; sold Creighton to Oxford, sold Penn to Burton, Bartlett and Lowe on frees to Hereford, and Richards to Cheltenham to mention a few!

[…] We have had the privilage of watching those patronising local news reports (’Most people haven’t even heardof the Blue Square Premier…’), and of course the written media are doing us proud once more.
