    Having stood in the ref’s room a few times pre-game, lots of them include undershorts in their pre-match lecture. If they mention it, it is always to emphasise the rule and that they will make players leave the pitch to change if they transgress.

    Still a bit daft though. I cannot imagine why the rule exists.

    Should never have been an issue as the refs should have spotted it before kick off.

    You have missed the crucial point in this game and the reason why Bath players were so upset, the referee was not content with just the undershorts being taken off he then ordered the player to remove his black boxers leaving him with nothing under his shorts and the embarrassment of having to take them off in front of 200 spectators, I was there I witnessed the whole fiasco
