  1. At last, a well-reasoned, well thought out article about Wolves prospects for the new season and beyond. Many such pieces simply take the fact that we were so nearly relegated last season and assume we will sink this year. We Wolves fans look at the positives of the new players we’ve acquired, and the added experience of our ex-championship lads and foresee a much better showing. Sure, some of our weaknesses have not been fully addressed but the addition of Johnson to our shaky defence should improve it greatly, and be the basis for greater confidence throughout the team.
So come on you Wolves. The only way is up.

Crikey. Never see fit to commit but what an informed, balanced and well-written article. The pragmatic realism to which you refer, lies deep in the stoic underbelly of years of mis-managed funds, players for whom the shirt meant little and glowing within the darkness, that historical jockstrap of 50′s success which has encumbered our expectations for years. For the first time in years, it seems – we’re here to compete. Not the glorious competition of the vainglorious british loser – but true, spirited, talented, ‘wear the shirt with pride’ competition. In the barren wastelands of close season, it is clear that, as football supporters, we yearn. For sport is so much more than the sum of it’s emotions. It is a collective outpouring of that, which, left unchecked, makes our lives, more solitary. For the men in gold and black and all our supporters across the globe, I raise a glass: Come what may, i’m bloody glad the football season is back!

We’re all expecting better this season, yes, but we all have to be patient and not expect things to be massively different to last season, cos along with the sentiment of this thread, I think we’re all realistic and know that it’s gonna be a tough season again for us. So let’s get behind Mick and the lads and be proud of what they’ve achieved in the last 5 years. Let’s hope the next 5 years and beyond is a great time to be a Wolves fan. After all we’ve been through over the years we bloomin’ deserve it don’t we!!!!!
