    Two things here – firstly the BOA didn’t send a women’s team in 2008 as you state. England did qualify but England dose NOT equal Great Britain so were unable to compete.

    Secondly it is not just Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales that should be worried, a Great Britain team would mean the end of the England football team as well – do you think the many thousands of English fans that sang “are you scotland in disguise” to the Welsh recently would be happy with that?

    Dave: Thanks for reading. You are quite right–GB did NOT send a women’s team. I inferred too much into the Guardian post I pulled that from. The intent was to at least send a woman’s team to Beijing in 2008, but that didn’t happen either. My apologies for the error.
