Fashanu’s reaction to the goal is worth a mention too. Here he is, nineteen-year-old, he’s just scored a belting equaliser at Anfield with a few minutes left of a rip-roaring thriller, he had every right to go dancing around the pitch for ten minutes; instead, he strolls away with a sheepish expression on his face, and a single finger pointed upwards, acknowledging only that the score needs to be amended. Brilliant commentary too.

    >he teed the ball up with his left foot
erm, looks to me like he set it up with his right foot, but shouldn’t let that take away from how cool a goal (and celebration) it was. I’m curious though: why praise this goal now? No anniversary or topicality that I can tell…
