    Admin, you’re the same age as me and I too have fond memories of the game. I didn’t own a Spectrum myself but one of my mates did and I was round at his house quite a bit to play several of the games that he had.

    I seem to remember taking Aldershot all the way to the FA Cup final and to within a whisker of the Division One title. Who says that teenage fantasies are harmful? :)

    There was a downside to the Spectrum though. It took ages to load the game via the cassette tape into the computer, only to find that it hadn’t loaded properly and you then had to start all over again!

    Thanks for that piece, it brought back some great memories.
