    The good news as far as I’m concerned is that this hilarious 66-month contract will lead to Mike Ashley facing an even bigger loss on his plaything.

    Or at least, I’m hoping that’s how it pans out…

    My understanding is that Jol broke off talks with Newcastle at a very early stage because the wage that they were offering was very low and topped up with performance related bonuses. I would be less than surprised if Pardew was doing this for less than £10,000 per week, which would mean that they can afford a longer contract. I do, however, think that there is now a real risk that Newcastle will be relegated this season, again.
