It almost feels as if we should be apologising for the amount of time that has been given over to Chester City on this site over the last few weeks. However, this story has unravelled into one of the most extraordinary football stories of recent times, and it still is not being reported to the extent that it should be elsewhere.

Aldershot were the last Football League club to go bust during the season, and it is perhaps appropriate that Notts County, who have taken the concept of boom and bust to absurd new heights this season, should be their visitors five days before a winding up hearing at the High Court in London.
The last few days haven’t been entirely happy ones for West Ham United. Their win against Birmingham City last week lifted them out of the relegation places, but they had to settle out of court with Alan Curbishley, are considering some odd legal action against Chelsea and the FA and have been rebuffed in their hopes to move into the Olympic Stadium.
Sometimes, it feels as if Sol Campbell’s entire life might be scripted by someone that was laid off from the Eastenders’ writing team. In recent times, there doesn’t appear to have been very much in his life that hasn’t been accompanied with some sort of melodrama, and this didn’t let up in tonight’s match at the Estádio do Dragão.
